The work of Angela Bulloch (b. 1966, Rainy River, Canada) manifest a fascination with systems and the creative territory between mathematics and aesthetics. Heavy Metal Stack of Six: Greige consists of six assembled geometrical solid figures known as polyhedra. Conceived and designed within a digital imaging program, each module appears distinct, whilst at the same time relating to the others. Made of powdercoated steel— which allows it to be installed outside —the stacked sculpture has a stylized geometry that recalls Constantin Brancusi’s iconic Endless Column (1937).
