The work 1-2-3 Tower is characteristic of Sol LeWitt’s brick structures he started making in the mid-1980s. By applying the logic of modular systems, he develops a simple geometric progression to form a tower which reminds us of the importance of architecture for his practice. While shape and basic unity are particularly simple in LeWitt’s works, it is the arrangement or the positioning of this shape, adapted to a set of rules defined by the artist that constitutes the finality of the work.
