Asad Raza is an American artist whose work combines living beings, experiences, and objects. Root sequence. Mother tongue is an environment, or a metabolism: exhibited at the 2017 Whitney Biennial (New York), the installation comprised 26 trees in rolling containers, carpeted floor, UV light and a team of "caretakers". The work is not only defined by its material components but its relationship to living and non living things around. It was donated to the Domaine du Muy by Rolls Royce in 2018, and it is currently adjusting to its new environment.
